Five gifts for five people.

This offer does have some restrictions so please read:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for YOU & you are allowed to make requests (and I will try to honor them).
- It will be done before December 25th, 2010.
- It might be cookies, a mix cd, a necklace, an original haiku, a scarf, who knows! (Well, I do.)
- You'll need to PM me your mailing address if you're one of the first 5.

In return, all you need to do is repost this somewhere and offer to make 5 things for 5 other people.

If you are one of the first 5 and pm me, please include a few details about your own interests, etc. so that I can make your gift as personal as possible. :) Happy Holidays.

Thanks [info]kehlen_crow for the help with the translation. It happened that everybody but me didn't get luck with those technical texts. It took 15-20 minutes for each student to answer. The teacher wanted them to understand, but they had just a mess instead of translations. I found alot of schemes, pictures at work, I printed it and brought with me. I show it to the teacher before I started reading my translation. She said I had a brilliant translation. I noticed she put a mark to me into her documents even before I finished reading. The only word she corrected was "cutting process", but the rest as she said was perfect. So, Elen, you're a genius ;)
Also thanks to [info]musstbedreaming and [info]carriep63.

Holiday debuggery

We know there were a few kinks with the holiday promotion. We've been working very hard to get them ironed out. If you have a paid/permanent account, keep on sending those coupons. Here's an update:

  • If you were unable to send out multiple coupons at a time, please perform a hard refresh, and you should be good to go.
  • If you redeemed a coupon to upgrade your account and the balance at checkout was $0 instead of $9.95 or $15, this means your upgrade did not go through (nor were you charged). We've straightened this out, so you can now apply your holiday coupon toward the purchase of an annual paid account.
  • If you tried to redeem a holiday coupon and had trouble using a gift certificate to cover the balance of an annual paid account, we identified the root problem. If this happened to you, you can now use your holiday coupon together with your gift certificate.
  • If the number of holiday coupons you have available suddenly goes up (instead of down), this might be due to recipients declining the coupons, at which point your pool of available coupons will be replenished and, therefore, increase.
  • If you need assistance with holiday coupons or pretty much anything else (well, LiveJournal related), please open a support request and we'll be more than happy to help!

Tweaks

  • There were some initial glitches displaying results on My Guests, but we've worked them out. We hope you'll check out who's been checking you out!
  • Some of you reported formatting issues using the Rich Text Editor (i.e., line breaks were being removed incorrectly). We've implemented a fix! Thanks so much for your patience.

Give a little extra!

We're pleased to report that we've already sold over 100 virtual red ribbons in honor of National AIDS Awareness month. Remember, for each charitable vgift you purchase for $2.99, we'll donate 100 percent of gross proceeds to IAVI.org (the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative) to fund the development of an HIV vaccine. Once again, we thank you for your generosity.

Celebrate with holiday vGifts!

Stop by the Virtual Gift Shop and share some holiday magic with your LiveJournal friends.

Photos of the week

We're back with more dazzling pictures from around the world. Congrats to [info]marlenemcc, who has been awarded a virtual blue ribbon as the winner of our fourth photo contest. We hope you'll click over to LJ_Photophile poll and tell us your picks in pics!

For more fantastic user content, we'll meet you under the cut. Read more... )

Curtains

Thanks, again, for reading. Here's wishing you the very merriest of holidays. We'll see you next year!

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

This offer does have some restrictions so please read:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for YOU & you are allowed to make requests (and I will try to honor them).
- It will be done before 2011.
- It might be cookies, a mix cd, a necklace, an original haiku short story (I actually am an author by trade), a scarf, a painting, who knows (I do!)!
- You'll need to PM me your mailing address if you're one of the first 5.

In return, all you need to do is repost this on your LJ (or on here if you'd like - or even both if you're ambitious!) and offer to make 5 things for 5 other people.

Seems like fun, can't wait.

Это прислала мне [info]bluesteel_44. И всё именно так и обстоит!! Клиенты именно ТАК и говорят. В нашей веб-студии какждый второй клиент - именно такой!

No one does anything for you until you kick them to do. What a poor service it is when you always have to ask everyone personally. But I'm not gonna tell about it now. I want to show what I bought for P!nk's gallery:

Пока не пнешь - никто ничего для тебя делать не будет. Ну что за сервис такой, везде приходится всех самой просить. Но я сейчас не об этом. Вот что я купила для галереи Пинк (картинка сверху)

Here's my handmade holiday roll-call:

- For the niece: A tulle tutu that's basically this, but I didn't do more than one strip at a time.
- For my mom: I "handmade" a snapfish photo book (okay, so maybe that doesn't really count...), a gift card holder, and some homemade biscotti from a recipe I found in a magazine.
- For my mother-in-law: I framed a newborn onesie that she gave my son. It says "Grandma loves me" and he outgrew it, so we framed it to remind her of how tiny he was. We included a photo of her holding him wearing that onesie and a set of his footprints. I also painted a sheet of cardstock with a gradient of the color green, stamped "A B C X Y Z" in white in several different fonts on it, and cut it into strips. I then arranged the strips into a "wavy" pattern just for some background texture. It sounds weird, but it turned out really cool, I swear.
- For various friends/extended family/coworkers: I needed a cheap gift that wouldn't take much time, so I made three batches of different kinds of soap and gave that in chinese takeout boxes. I actually have a photo, woo. The labels should have been cooler, but I was broke and couldn't afford to buy the sheets that you can run through your printer, so I had to settle for using some individual ones that I already had. Thus I had to hand-write them.
- For my sister: Something awesome which I won't disclose because she's on this community. :)

Anyway, I'm a total loser and forgot to take pics of everything before I wrapped it, so I'll try to get some once the recipients open the gifts and post them after the holiday.

How do you all feel about people bringing babies to adoration? We're talking a small 24/7 chapel, where there is almost always going to be someone else adoring. Hubby thinks this is rude, because you can't stop a baby from being a baby, even if they're just babbling happily, and this may disturb someone else's prayers. This was also my initial thought, but then I recall this passage:

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10:13-15

I think just recieving the rays of the Son of God is a blessing and I want to bring my 6 month old with me when I adore. So would this be rude?

My apologies for being unable to limit my graphic, nerdish glee to smaller numbers. Again, icons are created from real images & illustrations of snowflakes -- up close and personal.

A special shout-out to [info]glamourcorpse, who is as generious as they are beautiful and talented. Dear Santa, please send their heart's desire this year!

cut
I just did a little friends cut... no hard feelings, its just people I haven't talked to in a long time or have never connected with, or LJs that are never updated. If I cut you and you want to stick around, just let me know! Not screening comments or anything because I feel like no one will really respond, it wasn't a huge cut or anything, but I just thought I'd give a reason :)

As people who've read my posts in the past can probably tell, I'm not a person who really posts much in the way of pics of my own work. So, you'll just have to make do with a verbal recap. =) I've made a BUNCH of mittens and hats from my earlier post. Inside them, I've put the following goodies: [info]lutine 's Chocolate Salty Balls [info]snowcalla 's Hot Chocolate (with instruction tag!) Popcorn balls, half-dipped in the leftover melted chocolate from the Salty Balls Triple Ginger Cookies Homemade Fudge Spicy Candied Pecans Mini Banana Bread Loafs with Chocolate Chips and Walnuts Attached to each of the fleece goodies, I've attached a tag. On one side is the "contents" list. On the other side is the following: "Happy Holidays! These goodies were made with love and hope for a sweet New Year. Once their container is emptied, please be kind enough to donate the fleece wearable to your local homeless shelter and help warm another human in need." Just an idea to help everyone "Pass It On", no matter how frugal this season has to be.

Ellie Kemper, better known as vigilant Dunder-Mifflin receptionist Erin, is a piece of Missouri History. The Missouri History in Museum in Ellie (and Pam, and Phyllis)'s hometown of St. Louis, MO, has her VP Queen dress in their collections.

The Veiled Prophet parade is basically a debutant ball for super-rich people in St. Louis. They used to have a connection the Independence Day celebrations in St. Louis, but that's been discontinued.

Here's the dress, from the museum's twitter account.

EDIT: Found VP on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veiled_Prophet_Ball
